Have ya missed me?

I’ve missed YOU!   You may have noticed that I typically try to blog on Monday’s.

Or,

You may not have noticed when I blog at all!

Either way,

I haven’t blogged for the past two Monday’s and I’ve really missed you!  (Oh, I already said that.)   We have so much to talk about!

  • I would love to hear what you loved about General Conference!  What did you learn?  What inspiration did you receive?  (That you feel comfortable sharing, of course!)
  • I promised to put a song on my blog for you to hear.  (I will do that next week because I need Tim’s help and we spent the morning at the doctor’s office because he has a kidney stone.  OUWEE!)
  • I recorded a brand new song last Monday called “Hope on the Horizon” and I’m dying for you to hear it, so I want to post that too.  (When our home is kidney stone free I’ll post it.)
  • We went to Disneyland a couple weeks ago!

See?  We’ve really missed each other!  I hardly know where to begin…perhpas, Disneyland.

We didn’t just play, play, play all day – we were very productive whilst in Disneyland.   We bought a new car for McKenzie…she’s almost 16.  (She can probably tell you how many more days, hours and minutes until her birthday.  She can’t wait to get her driver’s license!  The guys are going to go crazy when they see her pull up in this.)

Tim met up with some of his old college buddies…

We found a  nanny for the three younger children.  He had very good references and came highly recommended.

Tim and I found new friends.  They seem like a lovely couple and we can’t wait to go to dinner with them sometime…

Marley threw a five-year-old temper tantrum…but we put a quick end to it.  She responded very nicely to this form of discipline.

On Wednesday, we went to Univeral Studios.  Our favorite ride was “Jurassic Park.”  We rode it five times.  The brave members of the family did not wear ponchos.  The whimps did.

We spent a wonderful, warm day at Newport Beach…(“Hey if it was so “warm”, then why do you have a jacket on?”  Can you say…whimp?)  The girls loved collecting sea shells and even found sand dollars!

“Voted the Best Day at Disneyland by the Weeks Family…” – The day we spent with our dear friend Stacey Mohan!!

We had a blast – it was the perfect vacation!

Blog to you soon,

Hilary

You are so funny, Hilary! I enjoy your humor. I greatly enjoyed General Conference. It seems that the 2 times a year when GC rolls around, I am really needing a boost in my life. This time was no different and now I feel motivated to do what I came to earth to do. :) Oh, and Happy Easter!

I was comforted to know that most of the talks (to me anyway) were about Mothers. Mothers doing it on their own, or just being mothers. Also about endurance. Endurance for trials. Funny how conference speaks to each one of us differently and tells us what we want to hear! Can’t wait to hear the songs!

One more, I read your post about your Birthday. I was watching a show once, and the interviewer asked Maya Anjelou how she felt to be 60. She said she loved it, and she worked darn hard to get there! I think that is the perfect answer for any age. Happy Belated Birthday, you worked darn hard to be 40!

    What a FUN vacation!!!!

Conference was great….but with 3 little kids and a “bun in the oven” that’s due to come any day it was hard to sit and listen…sortta like Sacrament Meeting. But I loved what I heard and can’t wait to read it. Mostly I came away with some ideas of what Heavenly Father thinks I should be doing to be a better “me” (judge less….show more compassion….be content with my role as “mom”…etc….)

    Dear Sweet Hilary,
I have been trying to figure out what is on your pants in that last picture of you and your daughters and friend. I even enlarged the pic and used the little magnifying glass thingie to blow it up and I still could not figure it out. This is going to torment me until I know what that design is on your pants. I think this might start a new fashion trend!

Loved, loved, loved General Conference (as always)! Loved just about everything – but in particular I noticed a theme of appreciating our womanhood and respecting our divine nature as daughters of God. Such a beautiful message!

So sorry to hear about Tim’s kidney stones. Please let us know once they have “passed.” He must be thrilled to have his personal health information blogged for all to see! The price of being married to “fame.” ;)

BTW, my son just turned 16 on Monday. Maybe once McKenzie has her birthday we can introduce them! He won’t mind her car – better than a bike (or a scooter!) Ha ha.

Take care, and can’t wait to hear the new song!! :)

Your pics are HILARIOUS! I think the new nanny and the temper tantrum are my favorites! LOL

One thing I really got out of conference was the roles that moms play in teaching their children. Being that we homeschool, there’s A LOT of teaching that has to happen around here! I think it was just a big eye opener… realizing the teaching opportunities I have, being with the boys 24/7.

Can’t wait to see you this weekend!

Is McKenzie really almost 16? Wow. Where did the time go? :0) Looks like you all had a wonderful time!

I had the most amazing dream last night!!!! i woke up first thing and called me mom to tell her about it. i was sad i had to wake up. I dreamt that i was hanging out with you like we were old friends. it was sooooo GREAT!! but i didn’t know whether to call you Hilary or sister weeks…to tell you the truth they bother kind of felt wrong..hahaha…i never really say your first name without your last name. I really wish we were friends but i know there are so many people that love you and want to meet you and talk to you so i should just be grateful that i have met you twice and that i have a huge poster of your face on my wall *i know, kind of creepy* and little note you wrote me that i framed and a picture of you and i *but i could use a new one where my face isn’t blotchy from crying hysterically because i was in the same room as my hero!* i am debating whether or not to sign up for Jenny phillips workshop again in hopes that you would be there. Speaking of which. i know you are really busy but i would love your honest opinion of the demo i made for the workshop competition last year. I have it posted under my videos on my facebook page. My name is Katy Edwards and i live in provo, ut. maybe you remember me….im the creepy boy band fan who cries in your presence. hahaha…I freaking love you!
Wow i just went back and read through what i just wrote and i really do sound like a stalker…hahaha…i swear im not!

We opted to watch the sessions from home (with a newborn, 2 and 4 year old). As a young mom, I felt a wonderful arm around me in the form of a few talks directed to young moms struggling to just get through the days. I was also totally inspired by the Saturday afternoon session. My husband joked last general conference that attendance at the Sat PM session must have been down, so they put Elder Holland on the bill. (That was the second time he spoke at that session – the first time was the powerful talk on the Savior’s Atonement, and last time it was about his witness of the Book of Mormon). We laughed when he came up again, and delivered another knock-out talk! My husband says it’s a great way to get people to tune in to that session!

Also, being that I don’t homeschool (I really love the idea, but it’s not the right time), I was really assured that there are plenty of ways I can teach and influence my children even when they spend 5 hours away from me. I love that General Conference can really speak to personal issues, even when they are talking to millions of people in all sorts of circumstances and countries and cultures.

I haven’t checked out the old blog for a while. Great pics! Still jealous of the great weather you were able to enjoy there. Great to see you this week!

BTW I knew it was you and Calli who wore the ponchos BEFORE I saw the picture! :)

  11. Jenny Says:

Let’s see. LOVED the Disney pictures and quotes! Hysterical! Looks like you guys had a great time. Conference was awesome as always. I really prayed in advance this time for answers and was thrilled that so many of the talks seemed to focus on what we do with our families and the one message that hit home to me was having dinner together at the table. We’d definitely gotten out of the habit. In just the last week it’s amazing what a difference it’s made! Then there’s the Mary and Martha story (bought time us Marthas got some credit!). I was definitely lovin’ that! LOL I tear up a lot when listening to your music. It’s very moving. Sometimes joy and sometimes just a nice background for a tough day when I need to let it out. So, I kinda understand Katy’s obsession. So, is it weird to have total strangers want to be your best friend because we feel as though we know you? I would imagine it would be. Thank you for your wonderful music Hilary. I’m looking forward to the new song!!

    HEy girl~
You WERE missed! Speaking of missed, I live near Seattle, but I have a great friend in Cinncinnati…….and we are flying to Omaha to meet up for Time Out (plane tickets are bought). Just got the email about low entries and the event might not happen. Oh no!!! What the heck would we do in Omaha with out you?!? Hope it all works out. :)

Anyway, conference was amazing, especially for Mothers, I thought. So much advice and wisdom. Here are my favorites………

    * Peace, joy and hope will come easily to those who properly judge success.

    * We should strive to be a good example for our children, but that doesn’t mean the Lord expects us to be perfect examples all the time. We aren’t perfect, but just us striving to be better each day is a wonderful example to them.

    * The Lord needs to be the center of our home.

    * Never let an earthly circumstance detour you spiritually.

    * In the world, there is great joy and great pain. BOTH are part of the plan.

    * Don’t apply mortal judgment to a spiritual decision.

    * Cultivate with the Spirit a relationship of listening.

Well, welcome back. Can’t wait to hear your songs! Hope your family had a beautiful Easter! And hopefully I will see you next month! ;)

  13. Shantelle Says:

My name is Shantelle. I am 17 years old and live in Indiana. I really enjoyed conference and was very inspired by the words of our church leaders. One talk in particular was very inspiring and was just what I needed to hear. It was the talk by Elder Martino of the 70 that is called All Things Work Together for Good. I have been very sick for several months and have been to doctor after doctor to try and diagnose my sickness. Recently, we met with a fabulous doctor that thinks that I have leukemia. That appointment was just 1 week before conference, so I went into conference very humbled and also very scared. Elder Martino talked about trials and what we need to do to be strong in our hard times. He talked about not complaining, turning to God, trusting in our Savior, doing service for others, and seeking to do the Father’s will. I realized that even if I do have cancer, Heavenly Father will be with me and will help give me strength when I am weak. Thank you for your beautiful music and inspiring messages. I always know I can turn to the spirit of your songs to give me comfort and peace.

Hi Hillary… I have been following your blog for a few months now. I have listened to your music for years. I recently discovered the song “Who you are.” I cried and cried(good tears). I am the mother of four children 7 and under. My husband is a busy resident, and sometimes I wonder if what I am doing matters. I see that you also have a book called with the same title, I believe. I am going to have to pick that up.

I currently live in Little Rock Arkansas. I had tickets for this weekends Time out for Women. Late Thursday my husband found out he would have to take call on Saturday. That left no one for my kids. I was stuck at home. I was looking forward to hearing you talk. I am sorry I missed it, I am sure it was wonderful.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful thoughts through music.
