“Hope on the Horizon”
In February, I attended the first Time Out for Women of 2010. This was my very first time in eight years to attend a TOFW without performing! I just got to soak in all the wonderful messages about “Infinite Hope” – the theme for this year. By the end of the day, after hearing messages that changed how I think and feel, I knew I had to write a song about hope!
There were two concepts taught that day that have stuck with me. You know how we are all told at one point or another not to “get our hopes up?” Amanda Dickson, one of the presenters and a local radio host/announcer made a case for just the opposite approach. Why not get our hopes up? What is so bad about getting our hopes up? “What is the worst that can happen?” she asked. Okay, so maybe we’ll be disappointed – but what is so bad about that? She talked about how sometimes our hopes are exceeded and that sometimes disappointments leads us to things that are better.
The second concept that has stayed in my heart is that our only true hope should be in Jesus Christ. Our hopes can’t be in a mortal person – that is too high of an expectation to place on someone – our hope must be in Christ. As I have put that principle to play in the last couple of months, I have found my heart softened in my relationships and drawn closer to the Savior.
So with those and many other thoughts about hope on my mind, I wrote “Hope on the Horizon.” I thought you might like to hear it – hot off the press, right out of the oven. (Kind of makes it sound like a Krispy Kreme…If there was a Krispy Kreme in front of me right now, I’d eat it in two bites. Maybe three.)
If I was nice, I’d let you hear the first verse and chorus. If I was really nice I’d even post through the second verse and chorus. But since I’m super, duper, really majorly, totally nice…I’m posting the entire song.
Yep.
The whole song.
Just “click” below and you can listen.

I loved the new song. I can’t wait to get it. I couldn’t get the link to work on your blog. It wanted to download it, but then when I did, it said the file was corrupted and wouldn’t play. *sigh*
I was so glad to get to see you over the weekend. I have so much I want to tell you, but there’s always so little time at TOFW. You are so busy! I guess I’ll just have to send it all in an email and hope you get it.
p.s. – I went to the store tonight and bought not one, but TWO packages of Raspberry Hershey Bliss! I know, I’m going to have to work out double time – which is why I’ll be at Becca’s at 6:00 a.m. tomorrow… but the extra pain will definately be worth payment in Hershey Bliss!

Well, I am not sure if it was ok to do, but I just posted the link to my Facebook status just now because I loved it so much and because I dedicated it to a sweet young woman who loves to sing and just experienced something disappointing today and I thought this song was just the perfect thing for her to hear…there is hope on the horizon
and, Dear Hilary, your albums, The Collection and If I Only Had Today, which I bought sometime after the death of my son in Nov 2008, have brought me so much comfort, peace, and healing.
Thank you, with all my heart…

Heard/saw you perform the song at TOFW this past weekend in Memphis. To say it was AMAZING… would fall short. It was inspiring, comforting, hopeful and just beautiful. You SHOULD HAVE song the encore.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful gift with me this past weekend.

I was privileged to attend TOFW in Memphis this past weekend and even more privileged to hear this song for the very first time. Once again, another Hilary Weeks song that will help me push through this life and see what is really important and to just “enjoy the view”….even if that view is my 3 yr. old’s tantrum! LOL! Look at that, I can even laugh about it! Thanks Hilary! You ROCK!

Hilary, you are some kind of a person …Each and every song or yours touches my soul and stirs my spirit.. It is like you are testifying of Jesus Christ and or Heavenly Father and how much they love me and how I am never alone . I met you In salem , oregon and Your spirit touched mine.
You are doing some awesome work and yes God did put you here to write and sing songs of him … When my daughter comes to drop off her kids and I have you playing she always smiles and says how the spirit stays with her all day long.
I love listening to you all of the time from morning into the night while falling to sleep. You help me to feel that the Lord is with me and makes me want to live closer to how Jesus would live ….
thanks once again for being so willing to share such a awsome talent and testimony with all of us…..
with much love and admiration

Hilary,
I just wanted to get in touch with you again after many years. I don’t expect you to remember me since you were about 16 and I was about 8 when I started coming to your house. I was in your ward in Anchorage. I can’t remember if my mom was your mom’s VTer or the other way around. I was pretty young then. I remember going to your house and while they were meeting, I would go up with you and Heather to your room. Your dad was the bishop, then stake president (and still to this day is my favorite)! I remember sacrament meetings were you would sing/play piano and just touch my heart at such a young age. I have loved your music then and now. That is actually why I decided to write.
I wanted to let you know how wonderful your songs are and the messages you share. I have a friend that is losing her son to kidney failure, he just barely turned 4 and is in the final stages. Last week his kidney functions were 7 1/2 %. The past couple of days have not only been hard on him but his parents as well. I thought of you and a song you had written and felt that I should send it onto them. The song I sent was ‘He’ll Carry You’. My friend had never heard the song before and said it was perfect. She told her Husband and I guess he listens to your songs all the time in his truck and really liked this one. I really wanted to thank you for the little gift of the Spirit in your songs and how this one really helped a family going through such a trying time.

Hi Hilary,
I was at that time out for women and I loved Amandas talk on getting our hopes up. I Love the new song! You inspire me to be better and so many others! Thank You for sharing your talent with all of us and for being such an example of Love for our Savior and hope in him. I am a better person because I have met you and am so grateful and inspired to be better each time I hear your music. Thank You!
Much Love,
Janet

Well, I chickened out. I was so excited to meet you at Memphis TOFW this past weekend, and when my opportunity came, I timidly joined the friends from my ward and stood in line to meet you. Finally, it was my turn! I started to tell you how much your music lifts my spirits and what a wonderful influence your music is to my nonmember husband… Then I just got shy and said a quiet “thank you” and sat back down. There were so many in line, and I didn’t want to take up your time. As luck would have it, my friend bought your little book for me while we were at TOFW, and I have been reading it this week. That has been “my turn” in line with you! Thank you for your incredible spirit, insights, and talent that you share so willingly. Bless you! Sharon from Tupelo, Mississippi

Hilary,
Hi, I have a question for you and I wasn’t sure how to get it to you except to post a comment on your blog. I am the Girls Camp Director in our ward (Mapleton 19th). We are singing your song “Still Believe” at camp. I wasn’t able to find the sheet music to buy individual music for our girls. I found the song in the songbook “The Collection”. I was wondering if I can make 12 copies of that song to teach the girls for camp? If not how do I get the sheetmusic? You can contact me at: jasonandamyrobinson@gmail.com
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing talents!! Your music makes me a better person. “Still Believe” was the right song to teach our girls this year. I’ll be looking forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks again!!

It’s terrific! In fact, it makes me want to put it on real loud on the stereo and start cleaning. It inspires “hope” that I may actually get on top of the mess! You’ve done it again, Hilary. So fun.

Thanks for sharing! Beautiful song.
I just heard that TOFW was canceled in Omaha, I can’t even tell you how disappointed I am. I have been looking forward to this for almost a year now being able to finally come to one. Looks like I will be waiting for another year.
