Hey!

I am pretty excited about becoming a “blogger.”  This is my very first blogging experience.  I think it will be fun.  I’m looking forward to talking about everyday life and sharing some of my “musical experiences” with you.  I am planning on taking my camera along on my Time Out for Women journeys this fall.  And if we aren’t visiting a city near you, then maybe you can still get a little taste of a Time Out.  Heaven knows we all need one every now and then!

Since I’m new at blogging…I’d love to know what you are interested in hearing about.  Feel free to give suggestions or ask questions!

Blog to you soon,…(you know, like, “talk to you soon”) :-)

Hey Hilary! So glad I get to be your first comment! What a coincidence that I just happened to pop on here today. Amber and I LOVED TOFW with you in May. Life has been very busy since then and we haven’t talked, but I’ll give you the details in an email. You were amazing, as always, and I can’t wait to hear the Ten Virgins CD. I’m hoping that my daughter Lyndsay and I can come to see you in Long Beach the beginning of November.
As for blogging? I’m kind of new also. I started in March. I would love to hear about your “regular” life at home as a mother and wife. The anecdotes you tell are not only so funny, but often poignant. We love you as a writer and performer, and know that much of your inspiration must come from day to day life. I would love to hear about that! I love to know that you’re going crazy like me some days!

    You’re the best!
    Love,
    Jenna

    Hilary,

Loved your performance at Women’s Conference this last year! You really are a comedian ;) And I’d also love to hear more about your day to day life. The clip you showed at WC about you making dinner back stage was a riot, and I know you’re kidding around but, at the same time, probably giving little glimpses into your hectic schedule as a performer, wife, and mother. You’re awesome to do it though!

    Take care,

    Christina

    Hi, Hilary,
Just a quick note to tell you, “Thanks!” for all you do! Your music touches many hearts. Thank you for the testimony you bear of our Savior. May you continue to be blessed and bless the lives of others!
    Love you,
    Sherry

    Hillary,
I enjoy receiving your updates. (Loved the Cheeseball).
I will be singing “A Gift From Him” next month for Sac. Mtg. Wish me luck. I either play piano and accompany others…or sing while someone accompanies me. Don’t EVEN think about asking me to do BOTH at the same time! LOL!
My parents live in Vegas (I lived there for 8 years). We have some ‘connections’ and dad and mom were able to see Celine’s 1st performance (free tix) a few years ago. I believe Oprah was there and it was part of her show. Unfortunately I didn’t get to go. =8^( For being such a tiny thing, she sure can belt out a song, eh?
    Thank you for sharing.

    Hilary,

You have no idea how much your music has changed mylife….I recently went through a dep depression and your songs truely helped me through. You won’t believe it but I have your music constantly playing in my house to keep a good spirit and help me to remember to stay strong. You have truely been an inspiration to me and I now love singing your songs because they have personal mianing to me. I have one question, when are you going to have the sheet music to “Never Alone”? That song was my ancor during my yucky years and now I have been asked to sing it along with bear my testimony however I can’t until you get the sheet music out. Just curious…..You have truely saved my life, thank you!!

I loved you at Time out for Women in Kansas City!! you are really an inspiration to us all!!! You have helped me SOOOO much!! i didn’t know if the church was true (my parent’s were going through a nasty divorce) and i didn’t know what to do. ANd then i ordered a c.d of yours off of Desertbook.com and it literally changed my life. It made me happier!!! I was falling into depression and it scared me. You’re music got me through that and made me see that not everything in life is bad. Sure, there are horrible things out there, yet God’s creations are so magnificent and breath taking. So thank you!!

I have been a long time fan of yours!! My hubby recently suprised me and got us tickets to your concert in SLC a few months ago. I thought it was an amazing show. I enjoyed hearing your stories behind the music, the slide show, and your great red shoes!!!

Thank you for sharing your wonderful talent, it has truly touched my soul!

    Love,

    Hilary,
What a great idea to open your blog for the fans. It is nice to have the opportunity to interact with you. At what age did you discover that amazing voice of yours and have you always been a member of the church? My family and I take great comfort in hearing your music and the special spirit that is conveyed in your voice. My wife has been enduring treatment for bone marrow cancer for over one year now and is living on the west coast while doing so. Recently while undergoing radiation in preparation for her final bone marrow transplant she was given the option of listening to whatever music she felt would relax her. Her choice was obvious, Day of Praise was the selection and the entire album was played for the one hour of treatment and surely it got the attention of the technicians who were listening as well. Thankyou for your excellent work and we look forward to seeing you in concert one day.

    Hey everybody!

I am finally going to take a minute and respond to your responses so you can respond and we’ll all be responsibly responding. Or something…

Jenna – You MUST come to Long Beach. It was great to see you earlier this year. You’re awesome…and not just because you can spell the word “poignant.” I would have had to look that up in the dictionary for sure!

For those who were at BYU Women’s Conference this year – wasn’t that a fun concert?! I had a blast. I was asked to MC the concert and they said I had free reign to be as creative as possible. I love to laugh and so that is why leg warmers were a must.

Sherry Huish – I may have met a relative of yours a while ago. I met a Brother Huish who had just come from the Priesthood Session of General Conference and he gave his tie to the man he was sitting next to. Ring a bell?

Betsy – I’m sooooo glad you like the cheeseball recipe. For those of you who haven’t tried it, Betsy and I would like to bear our testimonies of how good it is. Go try it. Don’t wait. Go…now. Thank us later. (Good luck on your performance – you’ll be great!!!!)

“Never Alone” as well as other songs from the “I Will Not Forget” cd will be on my site as soon as I can get to it! Keep pushing me…I’ll get to them! Maybe if someone could come make dinner for me one night, I could work on the music. Hint, hint.

    GO ALTOS!!!

Wendy – thanks for coming to the concert. I had the time of my life. It was so fun to sing with live instruments and musicians!

Tim – I am so sorry to hear about your wife. We all wish your family the very best. We have a friend who had a bone marrow transplant – she had cancer of the spine – and she is doing great!! There is always HOPE!!!! We were in Coeurd’ Alene this summer. We boated on the lake and then ate at the Coeurd’ Alene restaurant – so YUMMY. My brother and his wife live in Newman Lake – Mike and Nikki Novakovich. Just so you know…Coeurd’ Alene is as hard to spell as “poignant.”

    Blog to you soon!

  15. Sandrine Says:

Welcome to the world of blogging! I love it! I was delighted to see you had a blog. I saved it under “cool blogs” in my favorites. :)

Just got back from seeing you in Indiana at TOFW. I wanted to talk to you but never quite got close enough… I just wanted to thank you. Your music inspired me, it sunk deep into my heart, and helped me to change at a time in my life when I needed an awakening… or as King Benjamin puts it “a change of heart”. You are very talented, but most of all you are very inspired, thank you for being un instrument in our Fathers hands to bless the lives of others. Thank you for putting into words and beautiful music what so many of us feel in our hearts, and how our Father and our Savior feel about us.

    Happy blogging!

  16. Natasha B. Says:

    Hillary,
I intoduced myself to you last year when you went to TOFW in Chicago, and I told you that your song “Stronger,” did just exactly that for me, made me stronger. At that time in my life I was going through a trial that I never thought I would have to face, and I was falling fast. The words to stronger gave me courage to believe that somehow it would all work out for my good. Life has been full of challenges since then, but I can see that my trials are making me stronger in ways that I never thought possible. I had to make a choice, either I fall apart, or turn it over to God, and turning it over to God is what I did, much in part because of the “Day of Praise” CD
I am a wife and a mother of 3 girls, and I just got back from seeing you this past weekend in Indiana. Everything that you sang in conjunction with the other speakers, seemed was prepared just for me. I cannot tell you how much I love your humor. More importantly though, when I sing along with your songs, I can praise God in a remarkable way. There is nothing I love more than to sing. During the conference you mentioned your website, I had no idea you had one. I have been trying to figure out how to be able to sing your songs in places where their isn’t a piano, (like at girls camp). So I am more grateful than you will ever know, that it is possible for me to download the music to your songs. It is the desire of my heart to sing your songs, and I thank you for making this possible. I hope most all your songs will be available to donwload. My prayers go out to you, that you may be able to continue to bless and motivate our generation of women and still maintain your home and manage it all. There are thousands praying for you and thanking our Heavenly Father for your gifts and talents and time.

Thank you , thank you, thank you,
    Natasha

    Dear Hilary,

First time blogger as well and it’s been weeks that I left your first e-mail in the inbox honestly this is the first time that I have had time to respond.

A few years ago you had a concert up at the Pioneer park(Salt Lake) at sundown by the pond-my mom and sister came with me. After the concert I came up to thank you and all I could do was hug you. Your music has been so inspirational to me over the last four or five years that the emotions were too close to the surface. Thank you so much for your willingness to share with us. I was at BYU Womens conference this last May and the song: Come take your place is such a powerful song for me at this time-This is evidence to me that you are close to our Heavenly Father and that He is close to you. You truly do your part in “freely sharing” and He does His part through inspiration.

God Bless you my dear friend for all the good you have and will do in the future for the women of this generation. What more can I say, “Let’s see!?” Oh, I know, “You crack me up and make me smile, one of my favorite things to say about myself is, “I crack myself up!” Keep the good work up. I hope your smiling about now! Love you,
    Kayla

P.S. What is “Time out for Women?”
