Do you ever have Eeyore-type days? You remember Eeyore, right? He is the gloomy, depressed, old grey stuffed donkey who is a friend of Winnie-the-Pooh. Once in a while I have days like that. Sometimes the world just seems sad, like if you looked at a globe it would have a frowny face.
Yesterday was NOT one of those days. In fact, at the end of the day I realized that all day long I was reminded of how good the world really is!
The morning started with a little friendship I have with Isaiah. Ya, Isaiah from the Bible. I mean it, he is becoming my friend. The more I get to know him by reading the 66 chapters he contributed to the Bible, the more I like him. Elder Gene R. Cook (who is in the ward we moved from) made a comment in Sunday School last April. I wonder if he remembers making it and I wonder if others took it as literally as I did. He said if we want to understand the book of Isaiah, we need to read it 10-15 times. Whoa. That’s a lot. My first thought was, “I’m gonna do that!” My second thought was, “Um, could you please clarify…do I need to read it ten times or 15?” I’m on my fourth read through. This time I’m studying along with a fantastic book that is helping me understand a lot more than I ever could on my own. Starting the day with Isaiah made me happy.
Then I took to the treadmill. The treadmill and I aren’t as good of friends as me and Isaiah, but we get along fine. As I ran, I listened to a book that I downloaded – it’s by Chip and Joanna Gaines. I love their show Fixer Upper. From what I can tell from television, they seem to be delightful people and the book is only endearing them to me even more. They embrace adventure, positivity, family, God, creativity and joy. I like them.
I’ve been wanting to go to a movie for months now, but there hasn’t been anything that really peaked my interested, until The Shack. We saw it last night and I really enjoyed it. I cried the good kind of tears.
The day felt good and that made me feel happy.
I’ve taken up a new hobby that also makes me happy. I’ve been making leather cuffs from up-cycled leather belts and adding inspirational phrases. I don’t wear a lot of jewelry but a lot of the jewelry I do wear has words of motivation. I love looking at my wrist and seeing words that keep me believing and working towards my goals.
Blog to you soon,
